Going All in

In Texas Holdem poker, as well as other poker games, there is a term known as going all in. Going all in is when you take every chip you have on your side of the table and put it into the pot. This is generally done either because someone believes they have the winning hand, or they are trying to act as though they do. In Texas Holdem going all in is the ultimate in putting everything on the line for a single hand of poker. The trick in Texas Holdem is knowing when to go all in. Many people who play Texas Holdem have differing opinions about when someone should go all in, however all of these ideas can be broke down into two schools of thought.

The first, and perhaps most ascribed too, pool of thought in Texas Holdem is to only go all in when you know you are going to win. The problem is that there are very few times when you know you are going to win, and if you are not willing to go all in a Texas Holdem game at some point, chances are you will be in a long game.

The more liberal thought in Texas Holdem is that going all in is a great bluffing technique. While it is true that showing someone you have enough faith in your hand to go all in, this may not be the wisest course of action. If you go all in you are committed to the outcome no matter which way it falls, and if someone guesses that you are bluffing, chances are you are going to loose that game of Texas Holdem.

Going all in is an exciting thing. There is nothing like putting the entire game of Texas Holdem on the line to get the blood pumping. Yet at the same time, you want to be careful when you are choosing to go all in, or you may be leaving the game earlier than you planned.
