Capitaland Author’s Humor Book Receives Honorary Placement on Vintage Paperbacks & Digests Website

Capitaland Author J. Peter Yakel announces the recent selection of “The Legend of Juggin Joe” cover art for featured placement on Bruce Brenner’s distinguished, Vintage Paperbacks & Digests website (http://www.vintagepbks.com/hillbilly.html). Vintage Paperbacks is highly regarded for its impressive collection of over 800 cover images of unique and rare paperbacks and digests from yesteryear, including such publishers as Ace, Avon, Bantam, Banner, Dell, Eton, Gold Medal, Handi-Books, Lion Books, Monarch, and Pyramid. The selection of modern cover art from Yakel’s recently released contemporary fiction tale marks a first for the distinguished vintage website, and for the Capitaland author, it’s not an achievement without considerable personal merit and satisfaction.

With a grin, Yakel explains how he instituted the equivalent of a ‘literary coup d’etat’ to garner placement of Juggin Joe on the prestigious website. Says Yakel, “Vintage Paperbacks & Digests recently unveiled a new ‘Hillbilly’ genre cover art section. Having visited this fine site many times before, I quickly realized that the vintage covers featured, and my Juggin Joe cover share a common theme - they are equally inspiring, nostalgic, and of course, recognizable as literary classics.”

Certain that his Juggin Joe cover would add to Vintage’s appeal, Yakel spoke directly with Vintage Proprietor and Chief Operating Officer, Bruce Brenner. “Bruce is an incredibly perceptive man, and obviously we share the same insight when it comes to classic literary works”, says the Capitaland humorist. “Bruce and I talked about Juggin Joe’s storyline, and the fact that, while Joe may not a vintage book today, it is almost certain to be some years down the road, as it seasons over time.” In addition, the Juggin Joe cover art, which Yakel conceptually created and commissioned artist Jonathan Fesmire (www.lulu.com/jonathanfesmire) to develop, is both rich in detail and visually pleasing, just as the many covers Vintage now features. “From there”, Yakel finishes, “I opined that if Bruce was as impressed with the cover as I believed he would be, placing Juggin Joe on the Vintage website today would not only be personally satisfying for the both of us, but more importantly, it would do our readers and visitors an incredible public service.”

Indeed it does. Not only does the current placement of the Juggin Joe cover art save Vintage staff the effort of finding and featuring it some years down the road, but this momentous decision also gives regular Vintage visitors, and so many others the inspiration that, despite the diminished number of unique books being written today, The Legend of Juggin Joe shines like a true beacon, proof positive that not all of the literary classics are gone.

J. Peter Yakel is a freelance writer and author. In print since 1998, his articles have appeared in numerous publications and on a variety of Internet websites.
